Exactly what Wii Fit Needs Jun 22, 2008
By Daniel Wharton

One of my first thoughts after getting my wii fit was that Nintendo should have charged a little more and included a rechargeable battery pack. This unit fulfills that duty perfectly.
I'd prefer for it to have a regular AC adapter so I could charge the balance board while storing it under my couch, but the usb connector is not so inconvenient.
The battery pack integrates perfectly into the existing battery compartment and the quality is what I'd expect if nintendo included a battery pack of their own. Well done.

Excellent alternative to batteries! Jun 17, 2008

Installed this the day I picked up my Wii Fit, and have used it for about 18 hours so far without the need to recharge. Have had no problems like the previous poster (who seems confused as to which battery pack he actually got!). Can charge from the Wii USB or a PC's USB port, and you do not need to remove the battery cover to charge!

Mad Catz... what happened?? Feb 22, 2011
By edgeofinsanity I thought this would be a great idea... no more replacing batteries in the Wii fit, just charge up this pack whenever it runs low on power. I plugged in the pack to charge it up before it's first use, just like it says to in the instructions. About 5 minutes later, I noticed the pack was getting pretty warm, I thought this was normal and let it continue to charge. Another 5 minutes and the pack is putting out a horrible smell, and is almost too hot to touch. When smoke started coming out of the pack, I decided that purchasing batteries for the Wii fit wasn't such a bad idea after all, risking a house fire to charge up this pack is something I'd rather not do.
Please, if you do end up purchasing this item, DO NOT LEAVE IT UNATTENDED WHILE CHARGING. Had I let the pack continue to charge, I have not doubt that it would have melted and possibly started my house on fire. It got so hot in the ten minutes I had it actually charging, that it discolored the area on my desk that it was sitting on.
I don't know what happened with Mad Catz, I thought their stuff was usually pretty decent back in the day.

Please Read!!! Didn't think mine worked when I got it, but it DOES! Nov 26, 2010

I ordered this battery pack for my Wii balance board because I wanted to be able to use it alot without recharging my regular rechargeable batteries. I have purchased other MadKatz products in the past and had great luck with them, so I decided to try this one out. When I received it, I plugged it in and the battery pack lit up yellow like it was charging, but I couldn't seem to get the balance board to stay powered on - so naturally I thought the battery pack wasn't working. I contacted the seller and arranged for a refund but had not gotten around to shipping it back. Then this weekend, out of curiosity, I looked up on the Nintendo site, troubleshooting info to see if there was something I was missing. Sure enough!!! Turns out (duh) your balance board won't turn on unless you have a game that requires the balance board in the Wii and turned on!!!! Soon as I put the Wii Fit Plus disc in and turned it on the balance board powered on and stayed on! (p.s. I also had to re-sync my balance board to the wii) Now the battery pack is doing AWESOME and I'm SO glad I thought to troubleshoot before sending back! So before you are quick to think this item doesn't work:
1. Check that you have a balance board game in the Wii and it is selected 2. Sync your board to the Wii again if it won't turn on.

Poor product quality Feb 17, 2011
By David K Millard Like many others, received this and plugged it into a wall charger for USB. Charged it for two weeks, plugged the battery into the Wii Fit and got a message batteries are low, replace, resetting game. Charged for another two weeks, same thing. This battery has never held a charge, and never will.
